A basic objective of the group is to make members aware of cycling opportunities in the Lowcountry appropriate to their skill level. These include day rides in and out of Sun City and overnight trips to highly acclaimed regional sites. Club meetings provide an opportunity to socialize with others while sharing riding experiences, and hearing guest speakers on cycling-related subjects. With over 250 members, the cycling enthusiasts range in skill from beginner to hardcore devotee. Working together to make their passion for the sport enjoyable and safe for all, the more experienced cyclists’ mentor and encourage those who are finding the sport for the first time or returning after a long hiatus.
There's no wonder why you'll fall in love with the curb appeal that's found within these stately South Carolinian homes. A leisurely life is also found here as many people travel the community by golf carts or bicycles. But today I am going to turn my attention to a really awesome feature available to the residents of the Lowcountry’s most spectacular, active adult community.

Another perk about living at Sun City Hilton Head is that’s located inland providing peace of mind as it relates to flood zones and hurricanes.
Sun City is included within the Hilton Head Island-Bluffton-Beaufort, SC Metropolitan Statistical Area. The Bluffton SC real estate development has over 150 social clubs, the largest number we’ve seen. Arts and crafts, performing arts, sporting clubs, and resident community groups such as AARP, Lions Club and so on.

Other outstanding features in this lineup of homes include 3-car garages, powder rooms , pocket doors, additional kitchen layout options, double tray ceilings, pool baths, and linear fireplaces. Del E. Webb Construction Company was acquired by PulteGroup in 2001 and began development of the Jasper County portions that same decade. Hardeeville annexed all of the Jasper County portions of the community in 2007, prior to construction. A new golf course, Argent Lakes, and amenity center opened in the Hardeeville area of Sun City in 2014. Sun City Hilton Head is conveniently located within a short distance to Hilton Head Island activities and its world-famous beaches.

From the Cards & Games Group within the Chartered Clubs Group, one of the more popular clubs is the Bid Whist Club. When Del Webb dubbed the nearly ten-thousand-acre development nestled between the borders of Beaufort and Jasper Counties in the South Carolina Lowcountry Sun City, he was right on. Efforts to incorporate Sun City as an individual municipality have been attempted before, but South Carolina laws on incorporation have made it a challenging process. Hardeeville and Beaufort Country retain certain regulatory and policing authority over the community, but yield to the Community Association and its bylaws on specific matters.

Sun City has an internal property owners association that manages the day-to-day operations of the community. The five-member Board is composed of two residents, who are elected, and three representatives from the developer. Once the developer finishes building the board will be turned over to the residents.
Riverbend is a smaller, more intimate community which allows residents to use all of Sun City’s amenities, and offers resale homes, custom homes plus home-sites on which to build your custom retirement dream home. Located on the banks of the Okatie River, Riverbend boasts a deep water dock allowing residents to experience fishing, crabbing, shrimping and kayaking on the river. All amenities in both communities are shared and each has the same HOA fees. The large gated community has approximately 8000+ homes built to date of the 9000+ planned. All the homes in the South side have been built out while as of July 2019 new homes are still being built in Jasper county. The builder has recently purchased additional land and 400 new homes are planned, but no more pools, gyms, or club houses are planned as of July 2019. The new GenYou home designs, introduced after extensive research and consumer feedback, reflect the evolving needs and expectations of active adult living. These innovative designs focus on livability and flexibility with practical features to enhance convenience and comfort, all for the way today’s active adults want to experience their homes. Before development began for Sun City, the land belonged to the Union Camp Company, which used the property as an industrial pine tree farm for paper manufacturing. In June 1993, Del Webb Communities, Inc. purchased the 5,100 acres from the Union Camp Company and began construction in April 1994. Sun City Hilton Head opened its gates in June 1995, and the first 100 residents moved into their new homes that August. The developer, now PulteGroup, remains on property until home construction is complete. In 2018, approximately 52 acres of land were purchased for the north side of the community, adding another 183 homes.
There will be approximately 8,600 homes when the community is completed. Housing protections include being unfairly evicted, denied housing, or refused the ability to rent or buy housing. With almost 200 social and support groups of various interests, the Sun City Lifestyle is what draws many people from around the world to buy here.
There is something for everyone, whether they like sports, arts, fitness, crafts, card games or just plain socializing.
